Will be exported from Indonesia.
A report on Top Gear states that the Yamaha YZF-R3 will be the model bound for India, and not the smaller R25. The report also says the R3 will have its Indian launch next month, in August, and that it will be a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) offering.
PT. YIMM (Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing), currently the only factory to manufacture the sportsbike, will export CKD kits of the R3 to India, the publication states. The Yamaha R3 will be sold in three colors (red, blue and black), and ABS will be an optional extra.
Post the launch of the R3, Yamaha India would also introduce a naked version of the motorcycle, which is currently unavailable even in global markets. Reported to be called the Yamaha MT-320, this motorcycle could have its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo 2016 scheduled to take place in February next year.
