Will also be exported to other ASEAN countries.
Suzuki has launched the Ciaz sedan in Thailand, albeit with a downsized petrol engine to qualify as an Eco-car. The Ciaz is Suzuki's third Eco-car in the Thai market, following the Swift and the Celerio.
The Ciaz will be manufactured at Suzuki's Rayong plant, and will also be exported to other ASEAN markets. Together with the Swift and Celerio, the Ciaz is expected to drive Suzuki Motor Thailand's export growth by 285 percent this year, to 40,000 units/annum. In the domestic market, the company aims to sell 9,000 units of the sedan in its first year.
As it is classified as an Eco-car, the Ciaz is powered by a 1.25-liter four-cylinder K12B petrol engine which is capable of 91 hp at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. This engine is offered with a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. With the small 1.25L engine, the kerb weight of the Ciaz drops to a mere 960 kg.
