1.6L diesel engine is fully imported.
Speaking to IndianAutosBlog at the recently concluded media drive of the Maruti S-Cross, Mr. R.S. Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki, confirmed the launch of the product for the first week of August this year.
The S-Cross will be sold exclusively through Maruti's new range of NEXA dealerships, which are slated for major cities to begin with. The NEXA dealership will sell only the S-Cross for now, though more products will be added later on.
The S-Cross for India is manufactured at Maruti's Gurgaon plant in two versions - DDiS 200 and DDiS 320. Localization level of the DDiS 200 stands at 97 percent, while that of the DDiS 320 is at 67 percent as the engine is fully imported.
The S-Cross will not offer a petrol engine, or even an automatic transmission to begin with. The DDiS 200 makes use of the 1.3-liter MultiJet and develops 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.6-liter DDiS 320 develops 120 PS and 320 Nm of torque and gets a 6-speed manual transmission.
