Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Beji Peter, snapped these images of the Mustang GT, ahead of its launch which is reported to take place in the festive season period this year. While Ford have not outlined the Mustang in its 3-product launch strategy for the next 9 months, several reports state that the car maker wants to offer the Mustang as a niche, brand-shaping product.
Seen here in its GT spec, power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 engine developing 435 hp at 6,500 rpm and 528 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic with paddle shifters, driving the rear wheels of the muscle car. In the American market, the Mustang GT is also available with a 6-speed manual, while other engine options include a 2.3-liter GTDI four-cylinder EcoBoost and a 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6.
The sixth generation Mustang, revealed in December 2013, is made in left- and right-hand drive configurations for the first time. Following the reveal of the Mustang coupe was the convertible, though it remains to be seen if the open-top version is also introduced in the Indian market.
Electronic Line Lock, Selectable Drive Modes, HID headlights with LED daytime running lights, heated and cooled seats, leather upholstery, SYNC with MyFord Touch, rain sensing wipers and a Shaker Pro audio system are among the list of features that will be seen on the GT.
