Indian motorcycle major, TVS, will launch the next generation Apache in India in the coming months, and roll out the product to international markets by the end of this year, claims a report on Otomotif Kompass. The publication spoke to Anandakrishnan R, President-Director at PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia, who is quoted as saying that the motorcycle will launch in the ASEAN market by end-2015.

The well-specced motorcycle would get front and rear disc brakes and optional ABS.

The new Apache is reported to be inspired by the TVS Draken X21 concept, which made its premiere at the Auto Expo 2014. Sporting a revolutionary design, the Draken concept was powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 249.2 cc engine capable of 38.5 bhp and 23 Nm of torque, matched to a 6-speed transmission.

The motorcycle would wage a war with the likes of the KTM Duke 200, Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS and the Honda CBR250R, not to mention the forthcoming Hero HX250R which is also due this financial year. Keeping its rivals in mind, TVS is likely to spec-up the motorcycle with front and rear disc brakes, optional ABS, a semi-digital instrument cluster if not a fully-digital unit and plenty of anodized parts for an upmarket look.

TVS could also explore introducing a faired variant on the new Draken-inspired Apache, as motorcycles like the KTM RC200 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 have opened up this market to a wider audience.
