Could be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Latest spyshots from Autoforum.cz reveal a beefed-up version of the Skoda Rapid Spaceback in the brand's home country of Czech Republic, which could be the 'Skoda Rapid Scout' variant. This is the first time that the Rapid Scout has surfaced, and could be the next Rapid variant extension in the pipeline.
The Rapid for India and Europe use the same engines and VW Polo platform, but the quality, finish and safety is superior in the Euro version. The Euro Rapid is a liftback (a la Octavia) while India gets the normal sedan.
Compared to the Rapid Spaceback, the Rapid Scout features extra aluminum and plastic body cladding, silver undertray at the rear bumper, and black alloy rims. Although it's not clear in the images, the Scout could have a higher ground clearance than the normal variant, further enhancing its tough looks.
It will borrow the engine lineup from the Rapid Spaceback, which includes four petrol and two diesel engines whose output ranges from 73 bhp to 120 bhp. Power is sent to the front wheels via a manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG automatic.
Given its production-ready form, it could make its debut at the next big motor show, i.e the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Since it's based on the Euro-Spec Skoda Rapid, it will not be seen on Indian roads.
