The YRA is expected to debut the Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine.
The Maruti YRA (codename of Maruti's upcoming premium hatchback) was spotted testing recently with nearly no camouflage. The premium hatchback which is expected to be longer than 4 meters in length, will primarily target the Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo and the new Honda Jazz which launches in the country on July 8, 2015.
The YRA was previewed by the Suzuki iK-2 concept at the Geneva Motor Show earlier in the year. Suzuki also debuted their new Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine with the concept, which promises better efficiency thanks to an "all-new" lightweight design. This 1.0-liter unit is also expected to make its way on the Indian-specification, expected to launch in the second half of this calendar year.
Seen here in its left-hand drive specification, the YRA sports foglights, a chrome grille, multi-spoke alloy wheels, chrome door handles, wing mirrors with integrated turn signals, a rear spoiler and a rear wiper and washer.

Under the hood, the YRA is set to be powered by the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine in addition to the Boosterjet petrol motor. Maruti could also export the YRA to the European market, where a launch is expected early next year.
