Update - Bookings for the Maruti S-Cross have not officially started anywhere in India, Maruti corporate communications told IndianAutosBlog.
Expected to launch with two diesel options.
Certain dealerships of Maruti-Suzuki have started accepting bookings for the forthcoming S-Cross crossover, which is estimated to launch next month. Customers are asked to deposit between INR 20,000-30,000 to 'reserve' their car for early delivery. However, some dealers state that they are yet to get confirmation from the company to start accepting bookings.
The S-Cross is expected to launch in India with two diesel engine options. Starting the range would be the 1.3-liter MultiJet engine (found on all Maruti diesel vehicles except the Celerio), producing power and torque in the region of 90 PS and 190 Nm, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Next up would be a 1.6-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine, which on the European version of the S-Cross develops 120 PS and 320 Nm of torque, with a 6-speed manual transmission. The S-Cross 1.6 DDiS will be Maruti's most-powerful diesel offering though.

A video of the India-spec S-Cross from its IIFA premiere shows some of the features that will be seen on this Renault Duster-rival. A dual-slat chrome grille, front, rear and side skid plates, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, dual-zone automatic climate control and cruise control are part of the equipment list Maruti will offer on the top-end variant of the S-Cross.
