Expected with the new 2.4L GD diesel engine.
The 2016 Toyota Innova was snapped testing by Autonetmagz with a unique camouflage in Indonesia recently. The second generation of the popular MPV is expected to have its global premiere in Thailand in the third quarter of this year, and a launch is anticipated in India in the next financial year.
Using a new ladder-frame chassis, the 2016 Innova has grown in length, based on spyshots and leaked images. While the overall profile of the MPV is similar to the outgoing model, the rear windows sport an interesting design and feature a larger greenhouse, indicating that interior space has also increased.
The new Innova is expected to be powered by the new 'GD' range of diesel engines. While the GD engine family includes 2.4- and 2.8-liter units, the Innova is likely to get only the former, which would replace its current 2.5-liter D4D 'KD' engine. Paired to manual and automatic transmissions, this engine is about 10 percent more fuel efficient on the new Hilux Revo, which debuted this new engine family.
