Worldcarfans has published images of the 2016 Audi A4 without any camouflage. Head to this link to view them.
Based on the new MLB Evo platform.
A camouflaged prototype of the next generation Audi A4 has been spotted testing in Puglia, Italy by Autoblog reader Maurizio. The new Audi A4 will make its world debut shortly before the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, and arrive in the Indian market within 12 months of its European market introduction.
Audi's latest mid-size luxury sedan will feature an evolutionary design that draws cues from the company's newest models. Up front, it will feature a six-point Singleframe Audi grille flanked by newly-designed LED headlamps with a unique kink, as seen in a recent spyshot. The A3-inspired set of LED taillamps, moulded boot spoiler, and a twin pipe exhaust system round off the changes at the back.
Inside, the design will be in-line with that of the new Audi Q7 and Audi TT. According to another spyshot from China, the interior features a stubby gearlever, a new MMI infotainment display, a minimalistic center console and a new Virtual Cockpit instrument display for top spec variants as well. Given that the dimensions have been increased to better differentiate itself from the A3 sedan, expect better interior space.
The 2016 Audi A4 will be based on VAG’s MLB Evo platform, which also underpins the new Q7. Thanks to the new platform, the next generation A4 is expected to shed a sizable 100 kg over the outgoing model, thus improving driving characteristics and fuel efficiency.
Powering the new A4 is a range of petrol and diesel engines revised for better performance and fuel consumption. One such engine is a new version of the 2.0 TFSI engine which makes 190 hp and 320 Nm of torque, as compared to the 177 hp and 320 Nm produced by the same unit in the A3 sedan. It also boasts of a fuel consumption of 20 km/l (NEDC test conditions).
Other engines include an entry-level 1.4-liter TFSI engine, top-spec 3.0-liter V6 TFSI in the petrol category, while the diesel options are a 1.6-liter TDI engine, 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI. Also on the cards are a couple of petrol and diesel hybrid variants featuring the 2.0-liter TFSI and 2.0-liter TDI, respectively.
