2015 VW Vento (facelift) likely to launch on June 23 - Report

According to a report on Overdrive, the facelifted VW Vento will launch in the Indian market on June 23, with a marginal increase in price. VW India has not confirmed the date to IndianAutosBlog.com, though the official launch date is expected to be communicated early next week.

The new model features cosmetic upgrades to the exterior as well as interior, that further improves the premium appeal of the Vento.

The rear gets new taillamp elements, a long chrome strip that runs across the boot and another one on the lower fascia. The bumper has a cutout for the chrome exhaust tailpipe as well.

Apparently, the new Vento is reportedly longer and taller than the outgoing model by 6 mm (4,390 mm) and 1 mm (1,467 mm), respectively. The ground clearance also seems to have gone down 2mm to 163 mm. Volkswagen have also increased the boot space by 8 litres to a total 494 litres.

The interior remains largely identical to the outgoing model, save for a new Walnut Desert Beige color scheme for the top Highline variant, and Cloud Titanschwarz color combo for the lower Trendline & Comfortline variants. Equipment upgrades include cruise control and cooled glovebox (for Comfortline and Highline), dead pedal, external boot release and auto-folding side view mirrors (Highline only).

The facelifted Vento will offer the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol delivering 103 bhp, a 1.6-litre petrol with 104 bhp, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 103.2 bhp sourced from the outgoing model. Base variants will be equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the top petrol and diesel variants get the seven-speed DSG automatic.

The engines have been revised for lower fuel consumption. Reports suggest that the 1.6 MPI returns 16.09 km/l (up from 15.04 km/l), the 1.2 TSI does 18.19 km/l (up from 16.93 km/l), the 1.5 MT with 20.4 km/l (up from 20.34 km/l), and the 1.5 DSG returns 21.50 km/l (up from 21.21 km/l)

VW India announced that it sold 57 percent more cars in May 2015 as compared to May 2014. The total number of units sold last month was 4,167 including the Polo, Vento and Jetta.
