First Nano to come with a functional bootlid and AMT.
Tata Motors will introduce the GenX Nano with manual and automated manual transmission on May 19, 2015. Apart from featuring the AMT system, the GenX Nano is the first Nano to come with a functional bootlid.
On the MT, the GenX Nano has a 110 liter boot, while the AMT variant sees a 94 liter boot thanks to a higher engine cover. Speaking of the engine, the twin-cylinder 624 cc motor continues doing duty on the Nano, but has a better thermal management system. A new cooling fan at the rear and a cooling system up front ensure in better engine cooling on the small car.
The GenX Nano will also be the safest version of the Nano thanks to side impact beams and a better front crumple zone. However, the car will not offer front disc brakes, as it will carry on with its predecessor's drum brakes.
The GenX Nano MT is claimed at 23.6 km/l while the AMT has an ARAI-rated figure of 21.9 km/l. Further, the 15-liter fuel tank has been upgraded to a 24 liter tank on the GenX Nano.
