Likely to launch prior to the Auto Expo 2016.
Seen here are the most clear spyshots of the Maruti YBA (codename) sub-4 meter SUV which is expected to go on sale in India early next year.
Though Maruti indicated its entry in the mini SUV space by way of the XA-Alpha concept at the 2012 Auto Expo, the final production model bears little resemblance to the concept. Instead, designers have borrowed inspiration from the iV-4 concept, which for the European market was launched as the Suzuki Vitara.
Sources tell Indian Autos Blog that Maruti could consider launching the YBA prior to the Auto Expo next year. Upon launch, the YBA will chiefly rival the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra compact SUV (codenamed S101).
The petrol variant of the YBA will be powered by the 1.2-liter K-Series engine or a 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet engine which Suzuki announced at the Geneva show this year. The diesel variant will get a 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet engine, or may opt for Maruti's self-developed diesel unit.

The YBA sees Maruti enter an all-new segment, and will be instrumental in the company's growth (Maruti aims to sell 2 million units/annum in the next few years).
Rivals:Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra S101
Expected Price: INR 5-8 lakhs, ex-showroom
Launch Date: January 2016 (unconfirmed)
