Renault Duster-rival expected to launch in India by July.
The forthcoming Maruti S-Cross (reported to be called the Maruti A-Cross) will be shown at the IIFA Awards ceremony, which is to take place on June 7, 2015, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The market launch of the crossover is expected to take place in the June-July period.
The S-Cross essentially sees Maruti enter the crossover segment which is currently dominated by the Renault Duster which sees average monthly sales of 2,900 units (calculated over the past 6 months). Maruti aims to enter the highly competitive UV segment with the S-Cross and later in 2016 with a sub-4 meter SUV codenamed 'YBA'.
Despite having shown the S-Cross at the Auto Expo 2014, the car maker is yet to announce details of the India-spec model. Reports suggest that the S-Cross will be powered by a 1.6-liter diesel engine, and a 1.4-liter petrol borrowed from the Ciaz.

Dual airbags, ABS, EBD, projector headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, Maruti's SmartPlay entertainment system, keyless entry with an engine starter button and steering mounted controls are some of the features that will be seen on the S-Cross.
