i20 is the best selling nameplate for HMIL.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) sold 12,425 units of the recently launched Hyundai i20 Active and the Elite i20 (combined) last month. Launched on March 17, the i20 Active seems to be adding to the volumes of the i20 nameplate, with company insiders hinting that the crossover contributes roughly 11-13 percent of i20's sales.
The i20 family is now the best selling brand for HMIL, which sold 38,601 units in the domestic market in April 2015, a 9.5 percent increase over April 2014's sales. Available with petrol and diesel engines across five variants, the i20 Active is priced between INR 6.38 lakhs to INR 7.09 lakhs for the former and between INR 7.63 lakhs to INR 8.89 lakhs for the latter.
In comparison, the Elite i20 costs INR 5.3 - 6.93 lakhs for the petrol and between INR 6.41 - 8.05 lakhs for the diesel. The i20 Active builds on the features of the Elite i20 by offering projector headlights with LED daytime running lights and cornering lights, new 16-inch alloy wheels, front and rear skid plates and aluminium pedals.
