Made-in-India motorcycle gets customized for the Police department.
Nine Bridges Harley-Davidson, a dealer for Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, delivered six Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycles customized specially for the Gujarat Police Department earlier this week.
This is the first time that a police department in India has chosen high-capacity motorcycles for specialized use, the manufacturer said in a statement. These motorcycles will be used for "quick response actions" including the escort of visiting dignitaries and senior ministers and also emergency response as part of a natural disaster response team.
The Street 750 is Harley's made-in-India motorcycle which is exported from the bike major's Bawal, Haryana, plant to all locations across the world save for the United States and Canada. Based on an all-new platform, the motorcycle is powered by a liquid-cooled 750 cc V-Twin engine capable of 65 Nm of torque.
The Street 750 measures 2,226 mm in length, 815 mm in width, 1,704 mm in wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 144 mm. It features a 13.1 liter fuel tank and weighs 218 kg. The Street 750, and its smaller sibling, the Street 500, made their global premiere at the EICMA 2013 in Milan, Italy, following which the Street 750 went on sale in India at the Auto Expo 2014. It was launched at INR 4.1 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
