Porsche is currently working on a new generation of their only sedan offering - the Porsche Panamera. It will be based on Volkswagen's new MSB platform and is expected to launch in second half of 2016, as told by Porsche President & CEO Matthias Müller to Indian Autos Blog in Switzerland in March.

The spyshots reveal a design similar to the outgoing model, although Porsche engineers have covered up finer details of the test mule that could help make the design jump evolutionary. It features smoother lines, better presence, and looks closer to a sedan than the outgoing model.
With the new MSB platform, the new Porsche Panamera is expected to be lighter than before, with Porsche engineers targeting around 90 kg weight loss. Reports suggest that the new Panamera will be sold in three distinct bodystyles - a five-door coupe, a long wheelbase version and a sporty five-door SportTurismo version, which was previewed as a concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Inside, Porsche will revamp the design by reducing the button count, increasing interior space and integrating sporty cues from the 911 range. Also expect better equipment in the form of a new infotainment system and semi-autonomous driving features.

So far, no details on the engine lineup are reported. It will certainly offer Porsche's dual-clutch PDK transmission as standard, and will be available in RWD and AWD guises. The Hybrid variant of the second gen Panamera will reportedly better the current model’s 71 g/km CO2 emission.
