The Hilux will debut new 2.4- and 2.8L diesel engines.

Toyota has started production of the forthcoming 2016 Hilux Revo, as this image shows brand new cars stocking up at the factory yard in Thailand. The Japanese car maker released a teaser image of the new pickup today, and confirmed its unveiling in Thailand for May 21, 2015.

The new Hilux Revo will come in single, smart and double cab variants.

As reported earlier, the new Hilux Revo is expected to be underpinned by an all-new or suitably re-engineered version of the IMV (Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle) platform. Three engines will be offered on the 2016 Hilux Revo at the time of launch - one petrol and two diesel.

The petrol unit, a 2.7-liter Dual VVT-i, is carried over from the previous generation model, but the diesel units are all-new (or they could be based on the older diesel engine architecture). A 2.4- and 2.8-liter diesel engine will be seen on the Hilux, and these units could be carried over to the new 2016 Fortuner, given the SUV is based on the pickup.

Aside from 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, the new Hilux Revo will get Eco and Power driving modes, LED daytime running lights, Smart Entry system, 17-inch alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, and standard fitment of SRS airbags and Brake Assist.
