Launch expected next month.
Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Nano GenX - the first Nano to be fitted with an automated manual transmission (AMT) and a functional bootlid - sometime next month.
Like the Zest F-Tronic, the Nano AMT too will be equipped with a Sports mode, wherein the system will hold on to each gear until the redline if necessary. IAB learns that according to ARAI tests, the Nano GenX Easy Shift returns 21.9 km/l (for reference, the Nano Twist has an ARAI-rated efficiency of 25.4 km/l). Also, the Nano GenX will come with a larger 24 liter fuel tank, as against the 15 liter can on the current model.
Coming to the next highlight of the GenX Nano, the boot. With a functional bootlid supported on two hydraulic mounts, the Nano GenX can take up to 110 liters of luggage. Currently one has to fold down the rear seat to access the storage compartment.
Tata Motors will offer the GenX Nano Manual in variants of XE, XM and XT. The AMT Easy Shift is likely to come in XM and XT variants only.
