Renault has started testing the Duster Oroch (Duster pickup), ahead of a launch reported to take place in the third quarter of this calendar year.

Two different sizes of the Duster Oroch was spotted indicating that Renault would launch multiple variants with different payloads.

Unveiled in concept form at the 2014 Sao Paulo International Auto Show in October last year, Renault plans to grab a sizable market share in the pickup segment which accounts for 75 percent of the light commercial vehicle market in South America.

The publication reports that there were two different prototypes on test, indicating that Renault would offer the Duster Oroch with different load carrying abilities for varied needs. Renault could also introduce single and dual cab variants, though the concept previewed a dual cab.

Renault’s design centre for Latin America (RDAL) in Sao Paulo was responsible for designing the concept which featured outlandish Orange inserts inside and out, Neoprene seats, LED headlights and side-mounted cameras. Renault would obviously tone down the production model, though to give the pickup its own identity, redesigned lights and bumpers would be used.

According to an earlier report, the Duster Oroch would come powered only by the more powerful 2.0-liter flex-fuel engine, matched to a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Duster Oroch will not be introduced in India.
