The Ingenium engine range is already seen on the Jaguar XE sedan.

The 2.0-liter four cylinder turbo engine will be offered in two variants: 150 PS & 380 Nm and 180 PS & 430 Nm. The former will be the most fuel efficient variant in the range, returning a US-spec mileage of 20.4 kmpl with corresponding CO2 emissions of 129 g/km. The latter engine targets performance, and is capable of doing 0-100 kph in 8.9 seconds.

Land Rover believes that, with the new engine, the Discovery Sport is one of the most efficient offerings from the company. Along with the fuel efficient engine, the 150 PS Discovery Sport will sit on 18-inch alloys wrapped around low-rolling resistance tires, as well as the final drive and engine are optimized towards fuel efficiency. To set it apart, the 150 PS variant gets a blue "Sport" badge - highlighting its fuel efficiency.

JLR has for now introduced only diesel engines under its Ingenium engine family; petrol motors are also expected to follow.

An even more fuel efficient Discovery Sport is in the works, which will be added to the range later this year. It will feature the base Ingenium diesel engine and a front-wheel-drive system.
