Sales commence from end of this year in United States and probably India next year.
The second generation Jaguar XF, which was revealed last month, has made a global debut at the New York Auto Show which began yesterday. The India-bound mid-size premium sedan will go on sale in the United States this winter later and is expected to reach Indian showrooms next year.
The new 2016 XF sits on a lightweight aluminium construction which also underpins the new XE and the upcoming F-Pace SUV. In virtue of that, 75% of the car is made from aluminium and has shed up to 190 kg compared to the outgoing XF. The overall length is down by 7 mm to 4,954 mm, while the wheelbase has been extended by 51 mm to 2,960 mm.
With a near 50:50 weight distribution, the sedan features double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension with optional adaptive damper technologies for optimum low-speed ride comfort and improved handling and agility at higher speeds, says the company.
Jaguar offers the 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel from the ‘Ingenium’ family that makes 163 hp and 380 Nm on the base version and 180 hp and 430 Nm on the higher variant. There is also a larger 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel with 300 hp and 700 Nm. The XF S trim bags a supercharged V6 3.0-liter unit churning out 380 hp and 450 Nm. Depending on the engine and trim, the XF gets a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
On the inside, the executive sedan gets an all-new ‘InControl Touch Pro’ infotainment system with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, which is also available with an optional reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster.
The XF sports the Jaguar Drive Control (JDC) system with three standard driving modes for the driver to select: Normal, Winter and Dynamic. Other key features of the new Jaguar includes All-wheel drive (AWD) system with Adaptive Surface Response mode, Braking and Dynamic Stability Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue-Assist, Lane Assist, Speed Limiter and Semi-Automated Parking. The new XF also boasts full-LED headlights and Laser Heads-Up Display.
The 2016 XF will be manufactured at JLR's Castle Bromwich Plant in England in a few months from now. You can get more details including the specification sheet in the press release shown below the gallery.
