To be unveiled in North America later this year.
Carsspyphotos reader Jacek has snapped the test mule of the 2016 Honda Civic on the Interstate 70 highway between the town of Limon and Salina city in USA.
As per reports, the new Civic will reach North American showrooms later this year, and the Asian markets to follow in 2016. The car will be offered in sedan, coupe and 5-door hatch body styles with sporty Si and Type-R models for the US market.
The new Civic, whose concept version was shown at the New York Auto show early this year, is expected to boast sleek and bold design cues. As seen in the latest spyshots, the car appears to feature the new “Flying H” grille pattern and angular headlamps. The side profile looks lengthy, thanks to swooping coupe like rear windshield design, as revealed in the leaked patent sketches of the car earlier. The taillamps and the boot-lid design also mimics the Civic concept.
The Civic sits on a shortened Accord G9 platform, and is reported to be slightly grown in length than the current model. It will be the first model-line in USA to feature the new 1.5-liter i-VTEC ‘Earth Dreams’ Turbo engines with direct injection, along with other unspecified engines. They will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Foreign media is reporting the car to come with Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive cruise control, Multi-Angle rear view camera and LED headlamps.

Honda Cars India retrieved the Civic in 2012 due to low sales from the absence of a diesel engine and the shrinking D-segment sedan market. There are no signs yet for the new model’s possible re-entry in India.
