Would be the third 125 cc motorcycle from Yamaha India.
After launching a stream of scooters, India Yamaha Motor has shifted its priorities to motorcycles, and up next is a 125 cc 'Saluto', a Motorbeam scoop story has revealed. This would make it the third 125 cc commuter motorcycle for the company which sells the SS125 and the YBR 125 in this segment.
While the engine in the Saluto is expected to be the same unit that powers the SS125 and the YBR 125, the company might reprogram it based on priorities. The 123 cc unit on the SS125 produces 11 PS at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 10.4 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
On the YBR however, the motor powering the YBR produces 10.88 PS at 7,500 rpm and 10.40 Nm at 6,500 rpm. For comparison, Honda CB Shine, one of the biggest competitors for the Saluto, has a 124.7 cc engine that makes 10.54 bhp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 10.54 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
The spied variant features drum brakes and 5-spoke alloy wheels at both ends. The front-end gets a standard telescopic suspension setup and the rear gets a spring coil setup. The Saluto looks less sporty than the SS125, featuring plain jane panels on the side and for mudguards, while keeping the same black windshield that is seen in most of Yamaha's lineup for India.
According to report on Motorbeam, the Saluto is scheduled to be launched in April 2015.
