Reported to enter production this year.
This spyshot, snapped by Indonesian website IWBSpeed.com, shows the purported Yamaha MT 25 on test in Indonesia. The MT 25, when it enters production this year, will be the naked version of the Yamaha YZF-R25, reports suggest.
In October last year, a report stated that Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) would commence production of a new motorcycle called the Yamaha MTN-250. Based on the R25, a street-fighter such as the MT 25 would certainly help Yamaha realize the volumes of scale, and chances of the two bikes sharing assembly lines are very likely.
What the MT 25 and R25 would no doubt share would be the 250 cc parallel-twin engine, which on the R25 makes 36 PS (35.28 bhp) at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm, matched to a 6-speed transmission.

The R25-based MT 25 would rival motorcycles such as the Kawasaki Z250 and the hugely-popular KTM Duke. As far as an Indian launch is concerned, Yamaha have disclosed no plans on launching even the R25 in the country. Reports state that the Japanese major is contemplating between the R25 and the more powerful R3, which is powered by a 321 cc twin-cylinder engine.
