Will be a CBU offering.
A report on Autocar India states that Nissan India is planning on launching its full-sized SUV, the Patrol. The Japanese car maker will soon showcase the Patrol in India, in an event to be held in New Delhi.
More than increasing sales, the Patrol will serve to boost the brand image of the company in India. With the discontinuation of the X-Trail, Nissan is either known for the low-cost Datsun brand or for budget cars like the Micra and Sunny. Globally though, Nissan, which is the second largest Japanese carmaker after Toyota, has a rich portfolio of SUVs which include the Juke, Qashqai, Xterra, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada and the Patrol.
The Patrol for India will be imported as a CBU, and will compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser LC200, which is priced at INR 1.19 crores, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The Patrol too is expected to be priced in the region of 1 crore.
Where the Land Cruiser is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 diesel, the Patrol will get a 5.6-liter V8 petrol capable of 400 bhp and 570 Nm of torque. The Patrol is available with three transmission options - a 6-speed manual, a 5-speed automatic and a 7-speed automatic - and its the 7AT which would come fitted on the Indian model.

While the Patrol is an established 4x4 SUV abroad, in India it will have to compete with the likes of the Audi Q7 and Mercedes GL Class in terms of price.
