Power and torque output reportedly the same.
Overdrive has reported new details on the Hyundai i20 Active. Having driven the car, the publication was briefed that the i20 Active will come with the same engines and outputs as the Elite i20, but have a different driving character.
The 1.2-liter petrol engine which makes 83 PS and 114 Nm will have 6 percent better torque delivery in the lower gears, while the 1.4-liter diesel engine which outputs 90 PS and 220 Nm will have 11 percent improved torque delivery. How much this recalibration has improved in-gear acceleration is not quantified.
The publication observes that the change in driving performance is more noticeable on the diesel, where it revs more freely and "comes in earlier." And thanks to lower turbo lag, the driving experience was more fun.
The fuel efficiency figures quoted however differ. While the petrol delivers 17.19 km/l (down from 18.24 km/l for the Elite), the diesel comes in at 21.19 km/l (down from 22.54 km/l). This indicates that some efficiency has been traded in for responsiveness. The five-speed manual gearbox of the former and the six-speed unit of the latter have also been borrowed.
The suspension has also been raised to give it a ground clearance of 190 mm (20 mm more than the Elite) and the car is hoisted on 195/55 R16 tyres (available only on the top-spec Elite Asta and Sportz variants).
