Could be slotted between 200 NS and RS200.
According to a Motorbeam report, the adventure-centric version of the Pulsar 200 series - the Bajaj Pulsar 200 AS - is expected to be launched by June 2015.
The difference between the 200 AS and the full-fledged RS200 is that the former gets a half-faired body with a taller windscreen for an adventure-tourer look rather than the full-faired aggressive body of the latter. Similar to the RS200, the 200 AS would also borrow components from the 200 NS. It is unclear if there are changes to the suspension settings for improved handling over rough terrain.
Powering the Pulsar 200AS is very likely the triple-spark 199.5 cc single-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed transmission. In the 200 NS, the same unit produces 23.52 PS and 18.3 Nm of torque. Additionally, the upcoming 200 SS would employ a dual channel ABS braking system for better stopping performance, so expect these features on the adventure tourer.
So far, Bajaj Auto has only confirmed the launch of the top-spec RS200 - tipped to be the ‘fastest Pulsar yet’ - for May 26.
