The Tata Zest will compete against the Hyundai Xcent, the Honda Amaze, and the Maruti Dzire in Nepal.

Engine options for the car include the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet diesel that makes 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The petrol, on the other hand, is Tata's newly developed 1.2-litre turbocharged 'Revotron' engine which makes an identical 90 PS and 140 Nm of torque, and returns an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.6 km/l, while the figure for the diesel version stands at 23 km/l.

While a 5-speed gearbox is standard, the Zest diesel is also available with a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). There are a total of four trim levels for the petrol, while the diesel will be available in five trims. The petrol engine comes with Multi-Drive Mode that varies throttle maps depending on the chosen mode: Sport, Eco, and City.

Depending on the trim level, the Zest also gets ABS and EBD, dual airbags, reverse parking assist, and a 5-inch ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, and 15-inch alloys. Both versions get a 2-year, 50,000 km warranty, and 4 free services. The car is available in six colour choices. In terms of dimensions, the Zest measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,706 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height.
