To be launched by Guangqi Honda.
According to a report by Auto Home, Honda will be launching the new Honda City in China, expected at Auto Shanghai 2015.
The City was launched in India in January 2014, with a diesel and petrol engine, and has averaged above 6,500 units per month in the last six months. In India, it's available with two engine choices: a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol that makes 117 bhp and 145 Nm of torque; and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel that makes 99 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The diesel comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the petrol is offered with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic.
In the Chinese market, it's expected to be offered with the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine. As for the design, a set of patent images leaked last year revealed a slightly redesigned grille for the China-bound City. And while the dimensions of the China-spec City aren't yet known, the Indian version measures 4,440 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height. It boasts a 2,600 mm long wheelbase and a ground clearance of 165 mm.

The report says that the City will be sold via Guangqi Honda. As for rivals, the Honda City in China will have similar competitors that it does in India such as the Hyundai Verna facelift and the Suzuki Alivio (sold as Ciaz in the Indian market).
