Launches in India next year.
Several Thai forums, publications and pages are carrying an image that shows a blurry outline of the next generation 2016 Toyota Fortuner. Note that Toyota has not sent this image out through a press release or statement, and it could be a snapshot of a presentation made for its dealer partners/shareholders.
The new Fortuner is expected to be revealed this year, along with the new Hilux pickup. Based on a new ladder-frame chassis, these utility vehicles will continue to offer their core strengths - ruggedness and off-roadability - albeit in a more modern and comfortable package, a source told Indian Autos Blog.
A leaked image of the new Hilux's front shows that these vehicles will adopt Toyota's new design language, which is certain to bring an air of freshness to these cars which are a decade old (introduced in 2005).
Reports say that they will be powered by new diesel engines, though petrol units will also be offered. A multitude of variants will be offered as the new Fortuner will come in petrol and diesel, paired to manual and automatic transmissions with 2WD and 4WD.
