Here's everything you need to know about the all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson, which will have its public premiere at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
The SUV measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,645 mm in height and 2,670 mm in wheelbase. The boot capacity is rated at 513 liters with all the seats in place. The Tucson for the European market will be manufactured at Hyundai's plant in the Czech Republic. European sales are announced to start in the second half of this year.
The new Tucson is available with two petrol and two diesel engines. The base 1.6-liter GDI makes 135 PS and is paired to a 6MT, the 1.6-liter T-GDI offers 176 PS with a 6MT or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the base 1.7-liter diesel develops 115 PS with a 6MT, and finally the 2.0-liter diesel is available in states of 136 PS and 184 PS paired to a 6MT or 6 AT. All engines meet Euro6 emission norms.
Hyundai says it has upped the safety quotient on the new Tucson. The SUV gets an Autonomous Emergency Braking system with three operation modes: pedestrian, city and inter-urban, Lane Keeping Assist System, Rear Traffic Cross Alert system which uses radar to scan a 180-degree area behind the vehicle and alerting the driver to any approaching cross-traffic, Blind Spot Detection, Speed Limit Information Function which monitors roadside speed limit signs and an Active Bonnet System which raises the vehicle’s bonnet in a frontal impact with a pedestrian or cyclist.
Other features on the SUV include ventilated and heated front seats, powered tailgate, parking assist, a new gen navigation system with a 7-year subscription to TomTom Live and LED headlights.
