The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched in India this year.

JLR’s Special Operations, headed by John Edwards, launched last year with the the Range Rover Sport SVR. Dietsch indicates that Special Operations is likely to work on specific segments, and a Discovery Sport SVR maybe too expensive for what it is.

The vehicle will instead be offered with larger petrol or diesel options so as to offer better performance. With the Audi SQ5 in place already and the BMW X3 and X4 offering the larger 300+ hp 3-liter six-cylinder petrol engine, it won’t hurt LR to test out a higher-spec variant.
