The 2015 Mercedes C Class C350 Plug-in Hybrid world debuts at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (2015 NAIAS). After the S Class, Mercedes has introduced its new plug-in hybrid technology on the new C Class, and says it will launch 8 similar cars in the next 3 years.
Power comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine which makes 208 bhp and 349 Nm, assisted by an 80 bhp brushless electric motor. Combined, the C350 PHEV makes 275 bhp of power and 599 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox drives the rear wheels.
Mercedes claims the C350 will sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h. When run on pure electricity, the C350e can notch up 31 km, while running it in hybrid mode returns an impressive 47.61 km/l with CO2 emissions of 48 g/km.
Charging the battery, which is a water cooled 6.2 kWh lithium-ion unit, takes between 1h 45 min to 2h depending on the power source. The battery pack, which weighs 100 kg, is mounted under the trunk and eats up 15 liters of space.
Orders for the C350e start in the coming days while deliveries will commence in March. Further details are available in the press release below the gallery.
