2015 Ford Ranger Wildtrak (new Endeavour pickup) caught in the open – Spied
Posted on: Jan 6, 2015 - 2:30pm IST
Expected to debut in the coming months.
An undisguised pre-production 2015 Ford Ranger was spotted on the roads of Thailand. The prototype seems to be the top-of-line Wildtrak spec, with blackened bumper, grille and sports bar. The Wildtrak decals have been taped out on the doors and the tub.
The Ranger pickup is based on the same underpinnings as the recently unveiled 2015 Ford Everest SUV (2015 Endeavour for India) and will share engines, transmissions, and electronics with the SUV. The Ranger will also feature a similar construction, two-wheel/ four-wheel drive, an active transfer case with Torque on Demand and a Terrain Management System as the new Endeavour.
Depending on the market, the Ranger will be available with two oil-burners and one petrol: a 2.2-liter Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi and a 3.2-liter Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi, the petrol is a 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder. A Getrag sourced six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic will transfer that power to the wheels.
The new Ranger will go on sale in 2015 in markets across the ASEAN region. Ford will also introduce the rugged pickup to Sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa in 2015. Production will take place at the AutoAlliance Thailand plant for ASEAN markets and at the JMC Xiaolan Plant in Nanchang, China for the Chinese market.
