Powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Toyota's entry level sedan in Thailand, the Toyota Vios, is being showcased at the ongoing Thailand International Motor Expo 2014. Priced at 559,000 Baht onward (equivalent to INR 10.5 lakh), the Vios is to the market in Thailand what the Etios is to India. It's available in a total of seven grades, with the fully loaded version retailing for 734,000 Baht (equivalent to INR 13.8 lakhs).
The three-box sedan's styling at the front takes cues from the new Corolla Altis. The sharp front end is followed by a well-proportioned design at the sides, while the rear appears a little understated. The base specs come with 15-inch steel wheels, the mid variants get alloys of the same size, but the top-end 'S' variant comes with 16-inch alloy wheels. There's also a sporty-looking TRD variant complete with a bodykit and special edition alloy wheels.
On the mechanical side of things, the Vios is a front engined, front-wheel drive vehicle. It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that makes 109 PS (107.5 bhp) of maximum power at 6,000 rpm, and 141 Nm of maximum torque at 4,200 rpm. The entry-level models are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the higher versions get a 4-speed automatic.
At 4,410 mm long, 1,700 mm wide, and 1,475 mm tall, the Vios is bigger than Toyota's entry level sedan offering for the Indian market - the Etios.
