Sub-Zest sedan to give hatchbacks a run for money.

Tata Motors' next compact sedan has been caught testing once again, this time on video. The Tata Kite compact sedan, as its codenamed for now, will replace the Indigo eCS when it goes on sale later next year or by early 2016.

The Kite twins (a hatchback and this compact sedan) are based on the Indica platform, and will slot beneath the Bolt and Zest (which are based on the Vista's platform) respectively. And just like the Bolt and Zest, the Kite twins will not be a case of old wine in a new bottle.

Designers have set to to give the cars a completely new look, and though the test mule is carefully camouflaged to not give away any details, it hardly bears any resemblance to the Indigo eCS.

Under the hood, the Kites will be powered by a new 1.05-liter three-cylinder diesel engine and a new 1.2-liter petrol engine. The engines will be matched to manual and even automated manual transmissions (AMT).
