Updated chassis, interior and new engines expected.
After revamping its Scorpio range, Mahindra is looking forward to doing the same with the Bolero. But while the overall design and shape of the Scorpio remained identical, the Bolero will be in for a massive overhaul.
Mahindra continues to test the vehicle, and this time around, the Bolero was spotted in Chennai. The pictures, published by Overdrive, show the similar looking test mule that was featured earlier. The front end appears to follow the XUV 500's design, while the overall length is that of a compact SUV.
It will still be a body-on-frame setup, but the chassis will be hydroformed like in the case of the new Scorpio. The new Bolero (codenamed U301) is expected to have better vehicle dynamics than the current version, while it will also get new engines that are being reportedly co-developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong.
The said engines will be petrol and diesel units, likely to have a 1.5-litre or a 1.6-litre displacement. The modernisation in terms of powerplants and chassis is likely to be reflected in the upcoming model's efficiency figures.
