To be based on Volkswagen's second generation MLB platform.
The Audi A4 is gearing up to make an appearance next year with sales in international market expected to commence in early 2016. Here's a speculative rendering of the upcoming car, published by CarPassion.
The 2016 Audi A4 will be based on Volkswagen's second generation MLB platform (which the 2016 Audi Q7 and 2017 Audi A6 will be based on), so it's expected to be lighter than before. And with both the Mercedes Benz C Class and BMW 3 series being newer than the current A4, the German car maker has its work cut out for the next version.
The rendered image shows a sharper-looking front end with a six-point SingleFrame grille, new-look headlamps, and an aggressive treatment for the bumper. The side profile appears to be more or less the same as the current car. The report adds that the bonnet will be elongated and mirrors would be placed on the door, but the overall design won't be revolutionary as such.
