IAB Report - JCB inaugurates two new factories in Jaipur

Construction equipment maker, JCB, inaugurated two new factories in Jaipur, Rajasthan, yesterday. The inauguration was attended by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje and JCB Group Chairman, Lord Bamford.

The new plants are located on 115 acres of land.

The factories were setup with an investment of INR 500 crore, and are located on 115 acres of land, 35 km away from Jaipur city. At full capacity, the plant will employ 1,000 people. Currently, one of the plants has started component manufacturing and next year, production of telescopic handlers and skid steer loaders will begin. From 2015, the facility will also make backhoe loaders.

The factories incorporate water management, rainwater harvesting, solar power and daylight optimization as well to reduce carbon footprint.

Aside from Jaipur, JCB operates three facilities in India, one in Ballabgarh near New Delhi, and two in Pune. The Ballabgarh facility is the world's largest backhoe loader factory, while the Pune plants make fabrications and components mainly for export.

The new facility will also make the Backhoe loader from 2015.

JCB currently has 11 factories in the UK, five in India (including the two new factories) and other facilities in Brazil, China and North America. In India, the company makes 25 different machines in seven product lines including Tracked Excavators, Vibratory Compactors, Telehandlers, Backhoe Loaders, Wheeled Loading Shovels, Skid Steer Loaders and Pick and Carry cranes.
