Laxmi Intercontinental P. Ltd, the sole distributor of Hyundai Vehicles for Nepal, launched the refreshed version of the previous generation Hyundai i10. Terming it the “Next Gen” i10, the hatchback was launched with the 1.1L iRDE2 engine.
This engine produces 69 PS (68.02 bhp) at 5,500 rpm and 10.1 kgm (99 Nm) of torque at 4,500 rpm and comes matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. It delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.81 km/l.
The i10 for Nepal is also fitted with a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system with Bluetooth, and comes with a cash discount and first year free insurance as well. Safety features like ABS and dual front airbags are available on the top-end variant.
The i10 has been on sale in Nepal for over 5 years now, and has sold as many as 5,000 units. Hyundai’s hatchback range in Nepal now extends from the Eon, Santro, i10 to the Grand i10 and i20 (older generation model).
In India, the older i10 continues to see good sales volumes despite Hyundai having launched the more modern Grand i10 (which is actually a successor for the old i10) last September. The i10 manages sales numbers of 3,020 units each month (calculated for Jan-Oct 2014 period).
