The name means lion in Turkish.
The Hyundai Aslan premium sedan has been launched in South Korea at a price range of 39.9 million won (around INR 22.84 lakhs) to 45.9 millon won (around INR 26.28 lakhs).
The sedan which tucks between the Gradeur and Genesis in terms of dimensions was first showcased under the name Hyundai AG at the Busan motor show earlier this year and was subsequently spied. The striking sedan follows the Fluidic Sculpture V2.0 design philosophy, with an additional dosage of chrome upfront.
The dashboard design derives its inspiration from the Genesis and shares a lot of components as well. Wood and leather are used in abundance to render a premium appeal.
The powertrain lineup includes two V6 GDI petrol engines – a 3.0-litre unit producing 270 PS and 310 Nm of torque and a 3.3-litre mill generating 294 PS and 346 Nm of torque. Both motors drive the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, smart key, 9 airbags, chassis control system, ABS with EBD, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system, climate control, a 12-speaker multimedia infotainment system with an 8-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity.
Hyundai aims to sell 6,000 units of the sedan in its home market this year and 22,000 units next year. If the response is good, export markets like China, North America and the Middle East will be considered. There are no plans to launch the Aslan in India for now.
