Preview possible future scramblers.

The interesting Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen and 401 Svartpilen concepts have been showcased at the EICMA 2014 in Milan, Italy. The scrambler duo could be previewing what lies ahead for the KTM-owned Swedish brand.

The Husqvarna 401 Vitplien, Swedish for ‘white arrow’, is inspired by the 1953 Silverpilen. Interpreting the functional simplicity of its ancestor, the 401 Vitpilen is claimed to combine modern technology and high quality hardware.

Speaking of hardware, the white arrow is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Going by the nomenclature, KTM’s 373 cc mill which is used by the RC390 and Duke 390 seems to be the viable candidate. The motor produces an adequate 42.9 bhp and 35 Nm of torque in its current state of tune.

The trellis frame, WP suspension system and braking components also appear to have been borrowed from the Duke.

Husqvarna 401 Svartpilen

The 401 Svartpilen which means ‘black arrow’ in Swedish, is a more virile interpretation of the 401 Vitpilen. The scrambler is devoid of any gimmicky equipment or extravagant embellishments and has a minimalistic appeal which is claimed to offer an unadulterated old school riding experience.

The hardware is shared with the Vitpilen. Where the Vitpilen has slick tyres, the Svartpilen comes shod with off-road knobbies.

Given that the KTM duo is manufactured in India by Bajaj for global markets, the Husqvarna scramblers, if produced, could be made in India as well. It’s to be noted that KTM’s top management has earlier hinted on the possibility of India-made Huskies, but no concrete info on this matter has come from them yet.
