Judging by the spy videos, the next generation E-Class will follow the latest design philosophy that influences the S-Class and C-Class, which raises doubts on whether there will be any clear differentiation between the three. Following the new strategy that stretched the C-Class to accommodate the smaller 4-door CLA Class coupe, the E-Class will grow even longer to set itself apart from its smaller brother. It will sit on the MRA platform that also underpins the latest C-Class.
The engine lineup of the future E-Class will include a new range of inline 6 cylinder petrol engines, a 2.9-liter turbodiesel that will be offered in 2 different power ratings: 313 hp and 400 hp.

As is norm, there will also be a range topping Mercedes E63 AMG, that could be powered by the same 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 found under the hoods of the latest C63 and AMG GT. Also on the cards is a plug-in hybrid variant that combines a gasoline/diesel engine with a 122 hp electric motor.
The all-new E Class should launch in India 6-8 months from the time of its global introduction.
