Headed to India next year.
VW delivered the first ever 2015 Passat to a customer in Wolfsburg, Germany. Finished in a Tungsten Silver Metallic shade, sale number 1 was a Passat Estate fitted with a 2.0-liter TDI engine producing 150 hp.
The sedan version of the new Passat which is headed to India measures 4,767 mm long, 1,832 mm wide and 1,456 mm tall, making it 2 mm shorter, 12 mm wider and 6 mm lower than the outgoing model. At the same time, engineers have increased the wheelbase by 79 mm to 2,791 mm, while saving 85 kg thanks to the use of high-strength and hot-formed steel and aluminium.
In Europe, the Passat is available with a range of 10 engines to choose from, with power outputs ranging from 120 PS to 280 PS. Also available on the Passat for the first time is a plug-in hybrid GTE variant which has a claimed efficiency of 50 km/l.
The Passat in Europe is priced from 25,875 euros (INR 20 lakhs) for the sedan and 25,950 euros for the estate.
