Land Rover will roll out the first China-made Range Rover Evoque on October 21, according to a report on ChinaDaily’s website. The Chery-Jaguar Land Rover Automotive’s JV production plant in Changshu located in the Jiangsu province, will make the 5-door version of the Evoque. The 3-door model will continue to be imported from the Halewood plant in the U.K.

The Evoque will be the first product to be made at the JV’s plant.

The Chery-JLR joint venture was announced in November 2012. The joint venture, apart from making the Evoque, will manufacture the Freelander 2 and the long wheelbase XF which is exclusive to the Chinese market. The planned production capacity for the first phase will be 130,000 units per annum.

The joint venture decided to make the Evoque first given its popularity among the Chinese. According to Zhu Guohua, deputy president of the joint venture, one in three Jaguar Land Rovers sold is an Evoque.
