Power sources combined, the SUV produces 500 bhp.
The Peugeot Quartz Concept is being shown at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. According to the company, the Quartz is the "SUV for the future", partly as it gets a hybrid powertrain.
Its plug-in hybrid drivetrain is composed of a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine good for 270 bhp and 330 Nm of torque, while the front and rear axles each get a 115 bhp electric motor providing more juice. When combined, the Quartz packs in 500 bhp.
The electric motors also charge a 400V battery pack during deceleration. The SUV concept gets a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The "ultra-athletic" SUV as Peugeot calls it, sits on 23-inch wheels, and measures 4.5 meters in length and 2.06 meters in width. Exterior features come in the form of LED headlights and a full glass roof. The pneumatic suspension of the car is capable of increasing the ground clearance from 300 mm to 350 mm.
More gadgetry is seen inside, where four bucket seats, four-point harnesses, a configurable head-up display and controls for selecting different drive modes are put in place.
