Mercedes-Benz India today launched the performance-oriented version of the GLA Class, the GLA 45 AMG, at INR 69.6 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai.
Like the CLA 45 AMG that was launched in July this year, the GLA 45 AMG is powered by the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 360 hp at 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 2,250 - 5,000 rpm. This motor is the world's most powerful series production four-cylinder engine.
Thus, it enables the GLA 45 AMG to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and hit an electronically limited top-speed of 250 km/h. According to EU tests, the engine is good for an economy of 13.33 km/l and emissions of 175 g/km of CO2.
The GLA 45 AMG uses a 7-speed dual-clutch AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission to send power to all wheels via Merc's 4MATIC system. In fact, its only version of the GLA to offer 4WD in India, as the regular petrol and diesel variants of the GLA sold in the country come with front wheel drive only.
Engineers have given the GLA 45 an AMG sports suspension with specially tuned dampers, a speed-sensitive sports steering, a high-performance braking system with ventilated and cross-drilled brakes and a Curve Dynamic Assist system with a three-stage ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
The AMG portfolio in India now starts from the CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG, and extends to the E 63 AMG sedan and the ML 63 AMG, GL 63 AMG, G63 AMG SUVs, and finally the SLK 55 AMG roadster. The AMG car sales in India witnessed a growth of 150 percent this year.
