Gets 12 PS additional power.
The 2015 VW Polo GTI (facelift) has made its world premiere at the 2014 Paris Motor Show today.
Continuing the near 30-year production run of the iconic hot hatchback, VW has bestowed the 2015 GTI with a very aggressive front bumper sporting a hexagonal secondary airdam. The grille is finished in a glossy black and carries a red insignia that is extended into the revised headlamp assembly.
The profile is intact save for new wheels and the rear gets black diffuser, twin-circular exhaust tips and a roof-mounted spoiler with its edge finished in black. The interior elements like the flat-bottomed steering wheel, instrument cluster and sports seats derive their design from the Golf GTI.
Under the skin, the 1.8-litre TSI engine is worked upon to put out 12 more horses at 192 PS. The turbocharged direct injection engine delivers an impressive peak torque of 320 Nm and propels the hot hatchback from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds enroute to a top speed of 236 km/h.
In addition to the usual 7-speed DSG automatic transmission with paddle shifters, the new Polo GTI is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission for the first time.
If the performance and handling for the standard Polo GTI is not satisfactory, VW is offering an optional Sport Select electronically adjustable suspension and Sport Performance Kit which tunes various parameters for a sportier drive at the push of a button.
