Worldwide sales of the Suzuki Swift (Maruti Swift) has crossed the 4 million mark since the car was launched in 2004. The milestone comes nine years and nine months since the car's launch. It is to be noted that in India alone, Maruti has sold over 1 million units of the hatchback.
In India, Maruti launched the Swift in early 2005 with a 1.3-liter petrol engine, after which the car maker introduced the diesel variant powered by the Fiat-sourced Multijet engine. The Swift is currently available in India with a 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-liter diesel engine, and both come with 5-speed manual transmissions. The more powerful Swift Sport with a 1.6-liter engine is not present in India.
The Swift facelift, which was rolled out last year, is still pending an Indian launch, which is expected to happen this festival season.
